Vincent Riou in PRB took first place in the third edition of the Calais Round Britain Race yesterday. Joining him on the podium are Jérémie Beyou (Delta Dore) and Jean Le Cam (VM Materiaux).
Vincent’s time was almost 2.5 days longer than the record set in the 2005 race, with fog and light winds giving a winning time of 9 days 7 hrs 7 minutes 36 seconds. However he did manage to set a new Dover-Calais record - 1hr 08 minutes 57 seconds at an average speed of 7.35 knots.
Fourth place went to Dominique Wavre and his crew, with Generali beating Artemis Ocean Racing into fifth place. Seventh was Alexandre Toulorge (Maisonneuve), with the Roxy Girls (Sam Davies, Miranda Merron, Jeanne Gregoire, Alexia Barrier and Sharon Ferris) completing their circumnavigation of the British Isles to take eighth place at 0630 hours this morning.
